A scary incident unfolded in Massachusetts recently as an out-of-control front loader barreled through a busy intersection. By some miracle and thanks to the man in the cab trying to steer the behemoth without assistance, the piece of construction equipment didn’t crash into another vehicle.

Considering the front loader weighs about 60,000 lbs. versus around 4,000 or less for your average car, it posed an extreme danger to drivers.
The incident unfolded in Milford early on the afternoon of August 15. As the front loader was being put on a flatbed truck up the hill, it suddenly lost its brakes and coasted out of the lot, onto the road, and past unsuspecting motorists.
You can see as the front loader passes a line of cars waiting at a red light, it narrowly misses them. In fact, it barely clipped one SUV, tearing off its front bumper cover. As the woman who was driving that vehicle told WCBV, it could’ve turned out far worse.
Thankfully, as the front loader went through the intersection, it was clear. The guy in the cab, muscling the thing without any power steering, was able to narrowly miss the front of a pickup truck also waiting at the light.
He steered the piece of heavy machinery right into a traffic control light pole, probably the only piece of infrastructure substantial enough to stop the front loader without taking serious damage. Had he not done that, the machine could have rolled into the retail parking lot beyond the pole, putting more lives in danger.
A truck like that could roll over several vehicles while barely skipping a beat.
"It’s a miracle no one was killed or seriously injured," said Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino. "If a motorist had entered the intersection just one second earlier, we could be facing an unspeakable tragedy."
