LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan gas prices have jumped 18 cents from last week as the Labor Day weekend approaches, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).
AAA reports that Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.30 per gallon for regular unleaded gas. This price is up 1 cent from this time last month and down 19 cents from this time last year.
Drivers are paying an average of $49 for a 15-gallon tank of gas, a discount of about $8 from last year’s highest price, which occurred in July.
“Despite the slight decrease in demand, Michigan motorists are seeing much higher prices at the pump,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group, in a news release sent to 6 News.
“With Labor Day quickly approaching, gas prices may hold steady or increase ahead of the holiday weekend.”
