Rocket Ship On Wheels: Brabus 1000

Already with a reputation for taking production cars and pushing them to extremes, Brabus has continued that streak. Just to look at the new Brabus 1000 is to feel the raw athleticism of the four-door coupe as it’s just sitting still. But it can really move, thanks to loads of power and cutting-edge tech.

William Shatner is selling his personal car.

If you’re thinking the car looks oddly familiar, that’s because it’s based on a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, something the tuning house doesn’t even try to hide but instead loudly celebrates. After all, in factory form that’s an impressive ride, but what Brabus does with it is mind-blowing.

The vehicle, which Brabus refers to as a supercar, bristles with exposed carbon fiber weave on a number of body parts. Installed by the tuner, elements like the front splitter, rear diffuser, grille inserts, mirror caps, and rear wing give it a big wow factor, helping it to visually stand apart.

What’s more, in the rear are four 76mm tailpipes nestled snugly in the rear diffuser, showing this ride means business while also producing a deep, aggressive tone.

Popping the hood, you’re greeted by more carbon fiber, this time a red engine cover with exposed weave. What it dresses up is a 4.5-liter V8 biturbo mated with a high-output electric drive system, meaning this supercar is a hybrid.

By drawing on the best of both worlds, the driver enjoys the instant torque delivery from the electric powertrain and top-end performance from the V8. The result is a 1,000-horsepower and 1,342 lb.-ft. of torque that’ actually electronically limited to 1,195 lb.-ft. to guard against drivetrain wear.

In other words, this thing is otherworldly fast.

Of course, the Brabus treatment includes ten-spoke Monoblock Z wheels. The interior is also dressed up with quilted and perforated black leather upholstery, black Dinamica microfiber on the headliner, custom floormats, etc. for a sublimely luxurious experience.

The cost of this rocket ship on wheels depends on bespoke features added, but plan on it being north of $600,000.
