LYNDHURST, Ohio (WJW) — The community lined the streets Wednesday afternoon as the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit rolled into the Lyndhurst Municipal Complex.

“It hits home. It reminds me of that day,” said Lyndhurst Police Chief Pat Rhode.

The 83-foot tractor-trailer expands into a 1,100-square-foot mobile museum, filled with artifacts and stories from Sept. 11, 2001.

Inside, visitors will find a powerful tribute to the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the heroism of first responders and military service members.

“We brought it here for our students so they could engage with the history of 9/11,” Rhode explained. “A lot of kids that will go through this weren’t alive at that time.”

For many, the traveling museum provides a rare chance to reflect.

“It gives me a moment to pause and give thanks to those who gave their lives that day to protect freedom,” Rhode said.

The Never Forget exhibit has traveled to nearly every state, drawing more than a million visitors since its launch. According to city officials, the last time it was in Northeast Ohio was back in 2014.

The exhibit will be open to students on Thursday and then open to the public Friday and Saturday.
