The Slaton family is currently mourning the loss of "1000-Lb. Sisters" stars Tammy and Amy Slaton's cousin, Katie, who had been battling cancer that eventually progressed to Stage 4.
The news of her death was announced by Tammy and Amy's sister, Amanda Halterman, on her Instagram page. Halterman also noted that she was "completely crushed" by Katie's passing.
In the wake of the announcement, Tammy and Amy have yet to release a public statement about their cousin. Prior to her death, Katie Slaton notably appeared on the fifth season of the hit TLC show.
Katie Slaton Was Described As A 'Force To Be Reckoned With'
After a long battle with cancer, Tammy and Amy Slaton's cousin Katie succumbed to the illness on August 25.
Taking to Instagram, the reality stars' sister, Amanda Halterman, announced the sad news in a heartfelt tribute to Katie.
"It i[s] with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this," Halterman began the post. "My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday."
Halterman then praised Katie as "a force to be reckoned with," adding that the 37-year–old "showed love that was accepting and given freely."

In her post, Halterman hinted at how much she would miss Katie, describing her as "the life of the party and my best friend."
She concluded her long message, writing, "I know both our grandparents and friends was there to welcome you home. Please, pray for my aunt, uncle, and cousins, but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong. Thank you all who has come out and supported her."
Hours later, Halterman shared another emotional post of a recording of a video call she had with the late Katie. She added the caption, "Missing you cuzzin #katiestroong."
Fans Mourn With Tammy Slaton's Family Following Tragic Loss Of Katie
Following the post, netizens sent in their condolences to Halterman and the Slaton family.
"Deepest sympathy & condolences go out to you, Amanda, your family, & friends," one user wrote.
A second person wrote, "My heart breaks for you and your family. I'm so sorry," and a third commented, "So sorry for your loss, praying for you all."
Another user penned, "Sending you all strength and peace during the times ahead, I'm so sorry to you and yours."
"I'm so sorry for your loss, sending you all love and prayers to help you through this very difficult time," one more person shared.
Katie Slaton Lost Her Life To Stage 4 Cancer
Katie's ill health became publicly known earlier this year after she was diagnosed with Stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that attacks the stomach.
At the time, a friend opened a GoFundMe page to raise funds to cover medical expenses, Travel, lodging and treatment, living expenses, and additional support.
The fundraising goal was set at $14,000, but only approximately $3,000 had been raised at the time of her death from fewer than 100 donations.
After starting chemo to tackle the illness, it appeared that Katie was getting better, as reports from her friend claimed that her "symptoms are improving."
However, the improvement was temporary, which became known after Halterman took to Instagram a few days ago to ask for support for the family.
"Please whisper a prayer for our family as we continue to support Katie Slaton. I am so thankful to be allowed to stand by your side," she wrote on her page.
Tammy Slaton And Amy Slaton Have Yet To React To Their Cousin's Death
In the meantime, Tammy and Amy Slaton have yet to release any statement about their cousin's death.
Still, it is well known that the two had supported Katie during her illness, with Tammy even putting out a public message calling for funds back in February.
Katie was also a recurring presence on the reality show that brought Tammy and Amy to the limelight.
Following her demise, she leaves behind her family as well as her longtime girlfriend, Natalie Gerrick Bailie.
For now, her interment arrangements remain unknown, but may be shared by the family in the coming days.
