If you’re like us, you have at least a little collection of beloved Hot Wheels cars on display at home or in your office. While they’re great to look at, that’s probably about all you do with them. But a company has developed a way for adult gearheads to play with their toys: a small wind tunnel.
This guy’s Hot Wheels collection is worth millions.
Also fitting on your desktop, the Fun-Tech lab wind tunnel, called Windsible, allows you to observe the aerodynamics of your favorite small cars. The company makes these wind tunnels for 1:64, 1:24, and 1:18 scale models so whatever size you collect, you can still join in the fun.
The Windsible has a cord so it plugs into a wall outlet. You then pour some fog fluid into the machine’s tank, place your car of choice inside the chamber, close it, then fire up the wind tunnel and watch how the air swirls around and past your toy.
It works similarly to the real wind tunnels automakers use in the development of full-size vehicles.
There might be practical applications for Windsible, but as far as we can tell, it’s just a fun novelty item. Not everyone will agree the price of $239 for the 1:64 scale cars or $559 and $599 for the 1:24 and 1:18 models is worth the novelty.
Fun-Tech Lab also makes a tiny dyno for your toy cars, call the Runsible 64. It’s designed with rollers for 1:64 scale diecast cars. You can run it in the wind tunnel or on your desktop as a fun novelty.
Both the wind tunnel and the dyno make great gifts for car enthusiasts, especially those who already collect toy or model cars.
