TSA finds turtles in Florida woman's bra, months after Poconos man hid one in his pants

A Florida woman was caught trying to sneak turtles through Miami International Airport in an incident that is similar to what an East Stroudsburg man did at Newark Liberty International Airport earlier this year.

On July 24, the Transportation Security Administration put out a statement on its LinkedIn and Facebook pages saying that an unidentified Florida woman was caught attempting to take a pair of turtles, within her bra, through the TSA checkpoint. One of the turtles died, while the other one survived and was given to the Florida Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The statement from TSA implored travelers to “stop hiding animals in weird places on your body and then trying to sneak them through airport security” before emphasizing with, “No, really.”

The event is reminiscent of one that happened in March in which an unidentified East Stroudsburg man tried to bring a living 5-inch-long turtle through security at Newark Liberty International Airport in the groin area of his pants.

The statement regarding the Florida incident said that small pets are allowed through the security checkpoint, "but must be removed from any carriers and carried through the checkpoint (notice we said 'carried' and not 'hidden underneath your clothing')."
