By most measures, the Detroit Lions have been incredibly successful over the past two seasons. Detroit has posted a 27-7 record (including 15-2 in 2024-25), won the NFC North division crown twice and been the NFL's best team to bet over that time span, going a ridiculous 24-10 (70.6%) against the spread.
Despite heartbreaking losses in the last two postseasons, expectations are even higher in the betting market for Detroit this season — in fact, they are historic.

The Lions are currently 10-1 to win Super Bowl 60 at BetMGM, the fifth-best odds behind the Baltimore Ravens (+700), Buffalo Bills (+700), Philadelphia Eagles (+700) and Kansas City Chiefs (+800).
What's significant about those odds are that they are the franchise's best preseason odds to win the Super Bowl since at least 1977, according to Sports Odds History. And that's as far back as the website's database goes.
Despite losing both coordinators this offseason — defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn is now the head coach of the New York Jets and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is now the Chicago Bears' head coach — the public is lining up to bet Detroit again, as the Lions have the most wagers (10.8%) and total dollars wagered (13.6%) at BetMGM of any team to win the Super Bowl, including a $54,500 wager at 10-1 that would win $545,000.
“Bettors are supporting the favorites to win the Super Bowl,” Christian Cipollini, senior trading manager at BetMGM said in a statement. "Nearly 50% of all handle is on the Lions, Bills, Eagles and Ravens to lift the Lombardi Trophy.”
The Lions are once again favored to win the NFC North (+145) and have a win total of 10.5, which is tied with their 2024 win total of 10.5 as the team's highest over/under since 1989 — again, as far back as the Sports Odds History database goes for that market.
Is this the season that Detroit finally breaks through?
