A man and woman from Stockton, California, were each charged with home invasion burglary Friday in an armed break-in that occurred at a home in Point Pleasant while a resident was inside, authorities said.
Arrested Thursday night were Jaheim Wilson, 23, and Oleyah Brown, 21, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said in a statement.
Wilson was also charged with two weapons offenses in connection with the burglary.
Police in Point Pleasant were called to a Barton Avenue home shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday on the report of home invasion with a shot being fired. The officers found the rear door had been forced open and the home had been burglarized.
Ocean County and Point Pleasant detectives discovered that an armed man and a woman kicked the home's door in and took the resident's possessions while the occupant was inside. The armed man fired a single shot and the two fled, Billhimer said.
The investigation led to Wilson and Brown as the people responsible, Billhimer said.
At 11 p.m. that day, detectives from the prosecutor's office found Wilson and Brown in Toms River. After they were charged, they were taken to Ocean County Jail where they both await detention hearings.
Lawyer information for the two was not immediately available.
