Monterey Car Week is never short on surprising debuts. It has become a go-to event for supercar manufacturers, boutique builders, and anyone luxuriating over all things automotive. That makes it the perfect place to deliver the latest tailor-made project from Bentley’s Mulliner Division to its new owner. This particular Continental GT Speed features an all-new exterior option known as ‘Ombre by Mulliner’, which brings a rather prominent gradient to the car’s flanks.

According to Bentley, this special Continental represents the very first car to receive the new Ombre paint setup, which the brand is set to offer to future customers. To ensure the effect comes through properly, the automaker has limited the themes to three color palettes. This car features a bright Topaz paint at the front axle and dark Windsor Blue out back, with a natural graduation towards the middle of the car.
The paintwork is all done by hand by two skilled technicians at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England. Each car takes 56 hours to paint, and due to the individual nature of the project, each will be truly bespoke in their finish. The blend work is most apparent towards the rear haunch of the car, and blends nicely with the bodyline. The unique 22-inch 10-spoke wheels are also finished in the same hue as their respective wheel arches, extending the visual effect.

The two-toned gradient continues into the interior, where Mulliner Bespoke Studio have outfitted the car with a Topaz and Beluga interior. It’s a gorgeous combination of hides, and is a bit more attractive and subtle than the exterior to our eyes. That said, Bentley has yet to announce the other color options available in the Ombre finish. Depending on what those combinations look like, Mulliner might have a few extra customers lined up by week’s end.
