Brabus Revises Everything To Create A Monster
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance is hardly underpowered. With 805 horsepower and 1,047 lb-ft of torque from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain, it's a sports car that provides more than enough for most, but not the people at Brabus. The tuner has always been renowned for overpowered AMGs, and the new Brabus 1000 lives up to the brand's heritage with 1,000 metric horsepower (986 bhp) and 1,342 lb-ft of torque, though the latter is limited to 1,195 lb-ft to protect the transmission. Remarkably, the engine still meets Euro emissions regulations.
Those astounding figures are mostly down to an enlarged engine, now at 4.5 liters (actually 4,407 cc), thanks to a larger bore. Forged pistons and connecting rods are joined by a billet aluminum crankshaft, upgraded turbochargers, and an adaptive exhaust with high-performance catalytic converters and particulate filters. and Brabus claims a 0-62 mph sprint time of 2.6 seconds, 0-124 mph in 9.5 seconds, and a 0-186 mph time of 23.6 seconds. One of the few elements left unchanged is the top speed - 199 mph.
Significant Aerodynamic Alterations

With four decades of experience, Brabus is more than just an aftermarket tuner, taking its designs to the wind tunnel to ensure they don't generate unnecessary drag or wind noise. Produced from carbon fiber in either a glossy or matte finish (or with paint), the exterior upgrades include a new front spoiler with flaps that aim to generate air curtains. Canards provide additional front-end stability, while radiator grille inserts give the fascia a more menacing appearance. Carbon fiber mirror caps and staggered Monoblock Z 10-spoke wheels (21x10.5-inch at the front, 22x12-inch at the rear) enhance the profile view, with KW suspension bringing the side skirts 0.8 inches closer to the floor. At the back, a carbon fiber diffuser houses a quartet of three-inch exhaust tips, and a Brabus rear wing balances the front aero upgrades.
Magnificence Awaits In The Cabin

Open the door, and illuminated carbon Brabus tread plates are complemented by the glow of blue puddle lighting. The cabin greets occupants with leather upholstery throughout (besides a Dinamica faux suede headliner), quilted on the seat surfaces, door panels, and even the floor mats and trunk liner. Glossy carbon fiber trims and new pedals complete the obligatory changes for any aftermarket build, while red switchgear and climate control vents elevate the cabin subtly.
There's no word on what all this might cost a potential buyer, but with the base car starting at around $200,000, these extensive changes will also carry a six-figure asking price. Still, one can go further - Brabus also produces something called the Rocket GTS, and it gives the SL (upon which the AMG GT is based) similar power and a whole new look with a roof that transforms the roadster into a shooting brake.
