LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The summer weather might still be hanging on, but the Farmers’ Almanac has already released its extended forecast for the winter season.

The editors of the Farmers’ Almanac are predicting “wild weather” across the nation with dramatic swings and widespread wintry weather.

While snow will be limited in the south and west regions of the country, the weather outlook for the almanac dubbed “Chill, Snow, Repeat” isn’t all about flakes.

For the desert southwest region of the country, the almanac is predicting a wetter than normal winter with temperatures staying in the normal range.

“We are not expecting a big spike in temperatures this winter,” 8 News Now Meteorologist Tedd Florendo said. “If we do have several wet systems roll through, combined with cold overnight lows, it is possible we could see more opportunities for snowflakes around the valley again this winter.”

Florendo also added that he doesn’t anticipate the snowflakes sticking around and refreezing during the overnight hours.

The winter outlook suggests a memorable winter from coast to coast, featuring some cold temperatures, frequent snowfalls, and plenty of surprises for every region.
