Attaching Kim Kardashian’s name to just about anything will make it divisive, but a German tuning house did just that with a BMW M5. R44 Performance acquired a G90 to develop aftermarket parts for enthusiasts. But it wanted to stand out from the crowd and was looking for a source of inspiration.
E46 BMW M3 Competition sports an E60 M5 engine swap.
That source, it turned out, was Kardashian. Or rather it was her Range Rover that was modified by Urban Automotive, complete with Forgiato dish wheels. With that as a touchstone, R44 Performance set out to do something different with the G90 M5.
What it whipped up is a complete departure from what one would normally see for a tuned performance car. It starts with a 3M Satin Silver vinyl wrap, making the bodylines of the Bimmer more pronounced.
Next are Vossen 22-inch HF-9 Hybrid wheels with a custom gloss silver finish. Sure, they’re not just like the Forgiatos, but this build was inspired by the other and isn’t a direct copy.
To ensure the wheels are properly tucked, R44 went with AST Development springs, dropping the ride height dramatically. Also make a strong statement is the MHC LDN SP90 front lip made of carbon fiber. The tuning house says it’s the most recognizable part of the build and thus is in high demand.
Added to that are carbon fiber side skirts, making the BMW M5 look like it sits even lower to the ground.
Around back, a rear decklid-mounted spoiler and diffuser, both showing off their carbon fiber weave, dials up the aggression of the build. They also provide some contrast with the Bimmer’s svelte body. Finishing off that look are gloss carbon fiber exhaust tip shrouds.
Any build inspired by Kim Kardashian not only has to bear some ugly cosmetic surgery, which as we detailed out this one absolutely does, but also must contain some gaudy bling. That part is contained to the engine compartment with an aftermarket charge cooler inlet painted gold, plus anodized red fasteners and caps.
Like we said, we expect this build to be every bit as divisive as Kim Kardashian with some loving it and others absolutely loathing its existence.
