Ford has yet another massive recall, this time for over 355,000 new pickup trucks for failing instrument panels. The problem poses a risk to drivers as they can’t see vehicle speed, safety-related messages, and other critical information.
This Ram TRX owner thought no cop could catch his truck.
While that’s shocking enough, what’s even more surprising is the recall notice issued through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is for certain 2025 Ford F-150 trucks and 2025 to 2026 Super Duty trucks from the F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 lines.
In other words, these are brand new trucks being recalled for a serious glitch.
However, the fix is a free IPC software update, so no parts have to be removed and replaced. The can only be done at the dealership, but for those adventurous souls who don’t want to deal with the hassle, Ford says it can be pushed out over the air, so it would update while sitting parked at your house, likely in the middle of the night, just like your phone does.
It’s actually great to see Ford and other automakers, other than Tesla, offering over-the-air updates for software issues on vehicles. For too long, cars have become more dependent on software and that’s mean sometimes updates are necessary, but that involved a trip to the dealership, which is inconvenient.
According to the NHTSA recall notice, 355,656 Ford trucks need the software update. It’s all thanks to the recalled instrument panel cluster software being installed by Ford at factories from June 2024 to July 2025.
Thankfully, no accidents or injuries related to this issue are known to Ford, but it has fielded 95 warranty claims through June 26 for the problem.
This continues Ford’s record-setting year of recalls, which already halfway through 2025 had blown away the previous record. We still have four months left this year and it seems Ford is issuing a major recall like this about once a week lately.
