KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Stores across Missouri have kept busy as people take advantage of the back-to-school tax-free weekend.

Stores in Zona Rosa were full of people on Saturday, shopping for clothes and school supplies.

“So it has been extremely busy today. The entire state of Missouri is having its tax-free weekend. So we’re definitely seeing a lot of people from that,” said Selma Lilic, sales associate at Shop Len in Zona Rosa.

Retailers are working hard to keep up with the influx of shoppers. Some started prep work weeks in advance.

“We’ve been ready for it for the last few weeks. We’ve been prepping for it,” said Curt Coates, Assistant Store Manager at Dillard’s in Zona Rosa.

“We have been getting a lot of new arrivals too, so we’ve been steaming and prepping all of that for this weekend specifically,” Lilic said.

Some retailers say the annual tax-free weekend gives their stores a significant boost in foot traffic.

“Especially here at Zona Rosa, because we do have a lot more stores available. So I definitely see it more this weekend than any other weekend,” Lilic explained.
