An 8-year-old was airlifted to a hospital after crashing a UTV near Fergus Falls Friday afternoon.
According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, police and fire and ambulance crews responded to a report of a UTV rollover crash on Highway 1, northeast of Fergus Falls, at around 2:45 p.m.
An 8-year-old had reportedly been driving a UTV when the crash occurred while making a turn in a rough field. The child driver was pinned under the UTV but rescued by a family member before first responders arrived.
Both the driver and the passenger were not wearing helmets at the time, but the passenger was wearing a seatbelt, according to the sheriff’s office.
The 8-year-old was airlifted to a Fargo hospital, while the passenger was uninjured. The driver and the passenger were identified as siblings.
The 8-year-old's condition is unknown, and the crash is under investigation.
