A well-preserved 1978 Pontiac Trans Am equipped with the desirable WS6 performance package is currently drawing strong interest in Premier Auction Group’s online-only sale. The Mayan Red coupe stands out as a highly original example of one of Pontiac’s most iconic muscle cars.
This Trans Am is powered by the factory W72 6.6-liter (400 cubic inch) V8 engine, producing 220 horsepower, paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission. The WS6 package, introduced in 1978, includes performance-tuned suspension, larger sway bars, upgraded shocks, and the legendary 15-inch gold "Snowflake" wheels. A Safe-T-Track limited-slip differential and four-wheel disc brakes further enhance its driving dynamics.
Finished in striking Mayan Red over a black velour interior, the car features classic Trans Am details including the shaker hood scoop emblazoned with “T/A 6.6” badging. Inside, it sports factory velour bucket seats with a full-length center console, tilt steering column, power windows and locks, and two radio options—its original push-button AM unit and a RetroSound AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth discreetly added for modern convenience.
Although the odometer shows 77,830 miles, the vehicle is being sold as mileage exempt due to its age.
