BRISTOL, Va. (WFXR)- Lieutenant Governor and gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears said, “the media is lying to you,” in response to recent polls that show her opposition, former Virginia Representative Abigail Spanberger, in the lead.
“Believe my opponent this one time when she says on video that this race is a toss-up race,” said Earle-Sears during an interview with sister station WJHL in Bristol.
Earle-Sears said internal polls are “neck and neck.”

A poll released by Decision Desk HQ on August 1 showed the republican nominee down by nine points to Spanberger, 45.2% to 36.0%. A recent survey, conducted by the Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University, showed Spanberger with a 12-point lead over Earle-Sears.
“In this past quarter, I have raised just under $6 million,” said Earle-Sears. “I have raised more money than any Republican ever has in the second quarter of their campaign.”
Earle-Sears also spoke about the importance of mental health funding and energy.
“It’s whatever you want for energy, clean coal, oil, nuclear, and natural gas,” said Earle-Sears.
