Connor Zilisch tumbled from his car during his victory lane celebration at Watkins Glen International and lay motionless beside his car before being moved onto a backboard and transferred to the road course’s infield care center Saturday afternoon.

NASCAR announced in the track’s media center that the 19-year-old Zilisch was awake and alert and being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Zilisch had his left foot on the window net hanging over the driver’s door and his right foot on the top of his car when his left foot slipped on the window net. His left leg went inside the car, throwing Zilisch off the car head first onto the concrete victory lane.

Medical personnel were on the scene immediately, placing him on a backboard and then into an ambulance.
