A 32-year-old Davenport man has been released on bond after a puppy was seriously injured early Monday, according to a Scott County arrest affidavit.
Darnel Arrington faces a serious misdemeanor charge of animal abuse, the affidavit shows.

About 9 a.m. Monday, June 18, uniformed officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Esplanade Avenue for a report of animal neglect, the affidavit says.
In affidavits, police say Arrington “intentionally and knowingly grabbed a 4-6 months old pit bull/boxer mix dog and slammed it onto the concrete street 2-3 times.”
Arrington’s action “resulted in the dog sustaining injury to the back left leg and blood bleeding from its mouth,” according to the affidavit.
Arrington, who was released on $100 bond, is scheduled for arraignment Sept. 18 in Scott County Court.
