Burt Reynolds’ Sidekick Alfie Wise Dead At 82

Alfie Wise, the late Burt Reynolds sidekick, fellow actor and personal assistant, has died at the ripe age of 82. He was famous for his roles in films like Cannonball Run, Smokey and the Bandit, and The Longest Yard.

Pamela Anderson claims Sylvester Stallone bribed her with a Porsche.

Small in stature, Wise appeared in 10 of Reynold’s movies over the years, often in bit parts. In Smokey and the Bandit he played a police officer, while in Cannonball Run he was a two truck driver.

Many remember Wise’s performances with fondness.

He did some acting independent of Reynolds, including filling roles on TV shows like The Jeffersons, Legends of the Superheroes, The Fall Guy, and Mary Hartman.

What most didn’t know was he was a personal friend of Burt Reynolds and worked as his personal assistant for some time. The two became friends after Wise left the Navy in the middle of the 1960s, moving to Los Angeles and working at NBC, making appearances in small roles for TV shows.

Once he met Reynolds, his career took a turn for the better. Later in life, he worked as a real estate agent for Donohue Real Estate in Palm Beach County, California. The firm posted a moving tribute to the man on Facebook after his death:

“We are deeply saddened to share that our agent, Alfie Wise, has passed away. Whenever there was a company get-together, Alfie was always there, smiling and chatting with everyone. Not only was Alfie a pleasure to work with as a successful Realtor, but he was an accomplished actor. He frequently worked with his friend, Burt Reynolds, including in the classic film Smokey and the Bandit. You may also have watched him as a regular in the TV shows BL Stryker, Trauma Center, and S Club 7 in Miami.

We will greatly miss Alfie's sense of humor, positive attitude, and charming personality. We send our thoughts and prayers to his loved ones. “
